My first introduction to teabags as a potential substrate came from a dear artist friend of mine in South Africa. Jeanne Marie had started to paint some of her 365-challenge-faces on these delicate little “canvasses” and my recycle-minded heart just opened wide.

I wanted to try this for myself and fell in love! – How wonderful are these little bags!

There is always something very special in the preparation of recycled materials for art making. It feels ceremonial to me, because I give the materials a second chance to shine in ways they might never thought to be used.

You also need to take time and not haste when cleaning and preparing recyclables. It demands calmness and care. So fitting for these little squares.
